To link a daemon to a different scene tree drag the appropriate "Scene" node to this field. In RealFlow | Cinema 4D it is possible to use multiple "Scene" trees in the same project. The result is a smooth stream of particles, perfectly suited for high-velocity and slow-motion simulations, or fluid-object collisions. And it's included! For liquids, motion blur is your friend.The “Sheeter†daemon's main purpose is to detect holes in particle fluids and fill them, but without increasing the emitter’s “Resolution†value. It's not as easily art directable as all the other solutions, but it can look absolutely real, depending on what you want it to do. Using Thinking Particles and the Metaball object and a water material, you can get some really convincing liquids. It takes your simulation from Houdini or RF or XP and makes it better.įinally, don't forget you can do liquids in C4D out of the box. But it is not a fluid simulator, it's a particle render engine only. Krakatoa magically splits the original particles into clusters and voila - tons of smooth detail! Krakatoa is about the same price for C4D as RF is now. What I haven't tried yet is to do fluid sims with Krakatoa - the problem with fluid sims is that by the time you get the particles small enough so you don't have lumpy soup, you need so many particles to fill the volume that the sim times are untenable and the memory requirement breaks the bank. We will use Houdini for really specialized fluid sims but we'll usually pull out RF for the flying splashes or liquor ads. Houdini can probably do as good a job or better with sheeting but with Houdini it's not really whether the package can do the job or not (it can do anything, always), it's more whether the user has the chops, ingenuity and programming skills to rise to the challenge. (XP has so many other toys to play with!) I'm more familiar with RF's liquid workflow so it is still my go-to. I am both an RF and XP user but I have not had need for liquids yet in XP. RealFlow's sheeting has been, to this point, the best you can get (apart from a dedicated academic/research sheeting simulation not tied to any animation package). And for me sheeting is where the illusion can break down fast. What I can't say is whether the sheeting simulator in XP is better or as good as RealFlow. (they have always done fluids - smoke is just another kind of fluid, and the liquid sim works fine right now, it's just not GPU threaded yet). Xparticles is about to be the new kid on the block with their fluid sims being threaded for the GPU this summer. (well, as long as you can maintain a Win,7,10, or11 machine - on the Mac side so few apps work with whatever OS comes next, so I would stick to PC for this one) If you are on the fence and worried about being able to use it down the road if they kill the app - get the stand alone - it will work with any 3D package forever. I don't know whether the current slash in prices is a sign NL has come to this realization, or that enough core users have bought in already and there are no more buyers to be had and the market is saturated, truly making this an end of life situation (or whether the price cuts were a slap in the face to those of us who shelled out thousands). If you've got a customer drooling, you need to price your product so they don't get cold feet - and for home gamers, Houdini is free (or next to it). I know many people and companies who thought long and hard before jumping in with their wallets about whether it would be better to just go Houdini - which can do much more than just liquids. Given it's cost in years past, it might be that they priced themselves out of the market, with it being such a specialized package - a lot of money for a package you only pull out once in a while. Its not like it's NextLimit's only product, and it's not like they have been displaced by something else. ![]() It baffles me why we are sniffing EOL for RealFlow. Plus, it has a stand alone that you can work outside of C4D and then export the BIN mesh into C4D. Realflow is still a thing but I believe it is coming towards end of life (no hard evidence but that is the rumour mill) - that doesn't mean it won't work in the current version of C4D (it will).
